I cannot come down.

Today I started to hustle.

Jon Acuff challenged a bunch of his newsletter subscribers to hustle with him in January, and I accepted!

As of 5:42PM CST the closed group on Facebook had 3,771 members, everyone encouraging and looking for encouragement as they hustle for their dream in 2014.

I’ve been hustling for a new career since early December, traveling back and forth to Nashville (including the day after Christmas) to go on interviews and prospect for jobs.

I am super excited about the possibilities! I have recruiters calling me… not just the other way around. That’s a good feeling.

But “job” hunting isn’t always roses, there is uncertainty, apprehension, and fear. But as Jon Acuff would say, “you will be afraid in 2014, but you don’t have to stay afraid.”

Jon isn’t the only one I have been getting inspiration from.

I live on my laptop and iPhone so I like seeing Jon in my inbox, but I also like to sit and listen to things as I multitask.

My sister turned me on to a website from Andy Stanley called “Your Move” – its like a mix between TED talks and some of the best sermons I’ve ever heard.

If you need some motivation for the New Year, get plugged in with Jon Acuff and Andy Stanley. They are awesome and authentic people, and I love ’em!

One of Andy Stanley’s messages recently took apart the story of Nehemiah, the man who rebuilt the walls in Jerusalem after the Babylonians invaded Israel.

The phrase that struck him and that he and his family adopted as a motto comes from something Nehemiah said to the haters and distractors in his life, “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.”

Jason, good luck on your job hunt. Both my daughters are in Nashville, and in 5 years, my husband and I will retire this year.

Great post. Saw you on FB. I am member # 3451 of Jon’s group. What’s your 30 day hustle?
